What to do, what to do...

  Howdy everyone!

Today I'm turning our scope towards the weekend. Classes (hopefully!) are out of sight but not out of mind once Saturday approaches, so the question is... what to do with that free time?

Since I'm a commuter student, my normal weekend involves lounging at home, catching up on missed sleep and homework. But sometimes you want to go out even if you spend an average of 10 hours in the car a week! You want to see the sights! And I'm happy to say that South has a host of fun things to do and check out, even on the weekends. Relax, unwind, push that homework from your mind...

If you're apart of any sort of organization on campus, there's bound to be activities nearly every weekend that you can participate in. For example, I'm apart of the Honors college, and we are constantly emailed about fun events and seminars that are open invitation to us. The Honors college really likes to pay for and take students to Laidlaw to see student productions and shows-- which is another great way to spend your weekend, even if you're not in Honors!

But you don't even have to be apart of an organization to find something here. Just last weekend, the Archaeology Museum had a big function open to the public, where several seminars were held and many archaeologists were available to chat. You could even bring in any artifacts you may have, and they would identify and potentially date them for you! Best of all, it was free, which is a word every college student likes to hear...

The point is, there's so much you can fill your weekends with, even on the campus itself. Sign up for clubs, get in with organizations, or just keep an eye on the Daily Digest email that's sent on a nightly basis for the freshest scoop on what's happening at South.

Until next time...
